Interpreting Services

Most Deaf persons rely on sign language as their primary mode of communication. Professional Sign Language Interpreters provide persons who rely on sign language, greater access to communication. A Sign Language Interpreter bridges the communication barrier by conveying the purpose, tone and spirit of the message between individuals who do not share a common language.

WIDHH is the largest provider of sign language interpreting services in Western Canada and has been providing quality services since 1956. On average, we supply interpreting services for over 2,000 appointments annually. In addition we provide a free drop-in service for Deaf, Deafblind, Deafened or Hard of Hearing individuals to access:

  • automated telephone systems
  • individualized translation services for documents in written English

WIDHH provides two distinct interpreting serves, Medical Interpreting Services (MIS) and Community Interpreting Services (CIS).
